Background:
Mr. Frias enters his fourth year as GV Principal and tenth year as a district administrator. Prior to that, he was an AP at Mojave High School for two years and the Principal there for three. Prior to administration he began his educational career as a 5th grade elementary teacher. He taught elementary in a small rural district in Northern California named Maxwell Elementary for three years before moving to the high school level for five years. He taught PE, Pre Algebra, Health and Applied Math while at Maxwell High School. During this eight year span in Maxwell, Mr. Frias was the varsity boys football head coach, varsity boys and/or girls basketball head coach and Athletic Director. While an administrator in the Hart District, Mr. Frias served two years at Sierra Vista Junior High and two years at Canyon High School. He came to Golden Valley as an assistant principal in 2005. Mr. Frias became Principal of Golden Valley in July of 2008. Student achievement continues to be the focal point of his leadership. Through open communication, shared responsibility and clear measurable goals the desire is to continue to improve not only test scores, but grades and a student's overall sense of accomplishment. "I always look forward to working with the staff, students and parents of the Golden Valley High School Community." Mr. Frias attained his Administrative Credential and Master's Degree from CSU, San Bernardino. He attained his teaching credential and BA from CSU, Chico.

Background:
Mr. Zeevi has been serving as an administrator in the Hart District for six years. This is his fourth year as an Assistant Principal at Golden Valley High School. Prior to that, he was the Administrator at Redview Prep which he transformed into Sequoia Charter School for the district. Previous educational experiences include being a School Psychologist for eight years for the San Gabriel Unified School District and teaching 6th grade at a private school in the San Fernando Valley. He was also an Executive Director of a Summer Camp, where he worked for sixteen summers prior to coming to the Hart District. He has received a Bachelors and two Masters Degrees from California State University Northridge. He believes people come first, and looks forward to collaborating with students, parents and staff throughout the school year. He truly values Golden Valley and knows that the Grizzlies are going places. Places of high expectations, building relationships, rigorous teaching, and making sure every student counts. He appreciates Golden Valley’s diverse population, and sees it as more of an opportunity to help the school go from great to greater. He is personable with a “corky” sense of humor, and has always had such a passion for working with kids. |

Background:
Carolyn Hoffman grew up in West Los Angeles and graduated from Loyola Marymount University with her BA in English and her Single Subject Preliminary Teaching Credential. She began her educational career teaching honors English and as an ASB Advisor at her high school alma mater. She joined the Hart District in 2000, teaching English to adults at Golden Oak Adult School. After completing her Masters in Educational Administration through Cal State University, Bakersfield and earning her CLAD certificate through UCLA she joined the Golden Valley family and welcomed the first students when GV opened its doors in 2004. At GVHS she has enjoyed teaching English, AVID, and working with English Learners. Carolyn held leadership positions on campus serving as Cheer Advisor, ELD Coordinator, Safe School Ambassadors Family Group Leader and Co-Coordinator, professional development site team member, WASC focus group leader, California Distinguished School Co-Writer, and Administrative Intern. Carolyn has also been an ELD induction teacher and presenter for the district. Carolyn was promoted to Assistant Principal of Golden Valley High School in 2008. She is proud to have been chosen as the Golden Oak Adult School Teacher of the Year for the 2004-2005 school year and again, as the Golden Valley High School Teacher of the Year for the 2008-2009 school year. Carolyn loves working at GVHS! She is so proud of our accomplishments, enjoys working with the amazing students on the campus, and feels that our strength is in our students and staff who work so hard to make GV a great place to be! |

Background:
Mr. Nelson has been an Assistant Principal in the William S. Hart Union High School District thirteen years. He started his career as a science teacher at Saugus High School in 1983, where he also taught Peer Counseling, was a Head Track coach and spent two years at Saugus as the ASB Advisor. He is a product of the William S. Hart Union High School District, graduating from Sierra Vista Jr. High School and Canyon High School. Mr. Nelson is a graduate of UCLA, with a Bachelors Degree in Biology. He earned his teaching credential from CSUN and went on to acquire his Masters in Education and Administrative Services Credential at the University of La Verne. Mr. Nelson spent his first six years as an administrator at both Arroyo Seco and Sierra Vista Junior High Schools. He was appointed as an Assistant Principal at Golden Valley High School prior to it’s opening in August of 2004. Mr. Nelson has enjoyed working for the Wm. S. Hart School District as a teacher and an administrator and is committed to facilitating and encouraging positive connections between students, staff and community, that are based on open communication and trust. He believes the key to success for educators, is to demonstrate a sincere respect and caring attitude towards students and colleagues as well as setting clear expectations of high achievement.

Background:
This is Mrs. Benitez’ sixth year as an Assistant Principal in the William S. Hart Union High School District. Born and raised in Columbus, OH, she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from The Ohio State University. By earning her first Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Virginia Mrs. Benitez was able to become a teacher thus realizing a life long dream. She started her career as a math teacher at Hoover High school in Glendale, CA in 1997. From there, Mrs. Benitez began teaching at Frost Middle School in Granada Hills in 2000. Serving as Frost’s Title I Coordinator she learned that she enjoyed working with the entire staff and how to improve the achievement levels of all of Frost’s students. Following this path, Mrs. Benitez completed her Master’s Degree in Education Administration from CSUN in 2005. Becoming one of the assistant principals at Golden Valley High School in 2005 remains the accomplishment she is most proud of. Although she may bleed scarlet and gray, her home is Golden Valley. She enjoys working with the staff, students, and parents of GV. Not a day goes by that they don’t make her proud.
Mrs. Benitez is the mother of three beautiful daughters and a goofy dog named Kali. She and her husband have been married for 10 years and they enjoy living in the Santa Clarita Valley. She enjoys taking her daughters to the beach, a luxury she was not afforded growing up in Ohio, and going to the movies with her husband.
